About Kindly Useful
Kindly Useful is an independent website that collects small, free tools for everyday jobs: printing a calendar with your country's public holidays, organizing a Secret Santa, preparing for the U.S. citizenship test, making math practice sheets for kids, converting recipe measurements and converting photos.
Our principles
- Useful first. Each tool should solve one job quickly, on a phone or a computer, without an account.
- Private by design. Wherever possible, work happens in your browser. Images are converted on your device and never uploaded. Secret Santa groups store only what's needed to run the draw and are deleted automatically.
- Honest about sources. Pages that depend on facts say where those facts come from, and we link to official sources so you can double-check.
- Free. The site is supported by advertising. We keep ads away from the tools' buttons and never ask you to click them.
Where our data comes from
- U.S. citizenship test: the official civics questions and answers published by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), a public-domain U.S. government work, plus USCIS's test-updates page. Current members of Congress come from the open congress-legislators project; governors come from Wikidata. We are not affiliated with USCIS or any government agency.
- Public holidays: the open-source date-holidays data set (CC BY 3.0), which encodes official holiday rules for 200+ countries. Rules change, and some holidays are regional, so check official sources for anything important.
- Kitchen conversions: weights of common ingredients compiled from standard culinary references and USDA FoodData Central household measures. Real ingredients vary by brand and by how you fill the cup.
